Making Our Mark
Opening tonight at MA&C on Main in Bracebridge!
I'm delighted to have put together this show of paintings with two other artists, Lindsay Smail and Miriam Traher. All of us create abstract paintings inspired by our personal stories and the natural world.
We are united by a similar approach to painting. We make marks and respond, take risks and pause—always seeking something genuine and true in the moment.
While we approach painting similarly, the results are as unique as we are. Different experiences, different priorities, different choices—we exemplify the commonality and uniqueness of human experience.
The work we created for this exhibition highlights what we share and where we differ. Bold graphic work sits next to colour-drenched minimalism. Intricate edges find their echo in scratched marks.
These juxtapositions invite you to see our work with fresh eyes—and provide a framework to appreciate the subtleties of each different style.
