Simple Shapes, Rich Textures

Inspired by the infinite variety of marks and faults and drips and scratches in ice as it forms and thaws, the Ice + Fire prints are simple compositions, but lush with color, marks, and texture. I think they’re the most textured prints that I’ve made to date.

I’ve always worked with texture, even on my simplest images, but this series takes it to a new level. The image above is a detail from A Glance in the Night.

Maybe adding painting into my studio practice has me thinking more about texture? You can see the prints here:
